Rita and Regimantas Grigaliai – leaders of Lithuanian pilot Leitgiriai village

Rita works as an account in Šilutė local activity group, Association Lamatos žemė, while Regimantas is an engineer-quantity surveyor in PLLC Šilutė polderiai as well as a geodesist, working with the certificate of individual activity. The family also has a mixed farm of beef cattle and crop production in Leitgiriai village.

The spouses do not limit themselves to work, they are both active members of the community in Leitgiriai village, and meanwhile Regimantas is also a representative of the same Leitgiriai village.

This family has developed a proper and modern view to the world and the place that a person has in it, the surrounding environment and a connection to it. Therefore, they try to protect the environment in various fields: they sort the domestic garbage, use energy-saving light bulbs as well as apply a sustainable agriculture in their farm. As well as many residents of the village, this family is renting their land to the wind power park, in such a way giving a consent to the production of clean energy.

Grigaliai like to spend their leisure in the nature and their residential place is favourable for that as they live in a village near a regional park, forest and a river. They like to cycle around the area, go fishing in Leitė river, sail on a boat and go swimming. This is why they understand how important it is to preserve the river from pollution. One of the main measures is to ensure that the wastewater treatment plants of the village would be of good quality and adapted to the needs of the residents.
