Katri Hamunen works as a researcher in Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke). In VillageWaters she is responsible to compile the study of social impacts.

 

Social impacts refer to human wellbeing. When aiming for better ecological conditions, human wellbeing is often essential precondition - environmental problems are social problems since the human actions effect on the environment.  Therefore, the everyday lives of the inhabitants living in rural villages around the Baltic Sea are worth studying.

 

Katri’s former knowledge about the wastewaters restricts to user experience. Her expertise is on the field of forestry. She has studied forest owners and their social networks, as well as the social sustainability when using non-wood forest products.

VillageWaters Project
VillageWaters suggest most effective wastewater treatment solutions in scattered dwellings households, which use their own, independently operated water purification systems.

Helping Homeowners
Environmentally oriented families and homeowners, who live in scattered dwellings areas, where connecting to larger wastewater plants is not option because rural distances.
